Messmate is a popular hardwood native to Tasmania and Victoria and the tablelands of New South Wales and southern Queensland.
The colour of the Messmate timber ranges from a mid-tone brown to light yellow with a hint of peach. A quintessential piece of Messmate timber is heavily featured with gum veins, well-defined rings and a coarse grain.
Recycled Messmate furniture is rich in swirling grains, changing tones and characteristic contrasting sap lines.
